These twelve stories are set in Quebec’s Eastern Townships – an enchanting region that is in the throes of deep transformation. The stories are quirky, touching, funny and, sometimes, outrageous. They tell of relationships that could only exist in a rural environment comprised of English and French speakers living among traditional mixed farms, high-end vineyards and million-dollar weekend estates.
Many of the stories were first published in their shorter versions in Le Tour, a bilingual newspaper published in Sutton, Quebec since 1983.
The collection is brought to life by Stéphane Lemardelé, a Sutton artist who has enjoyed portraying Townshippers for many years.
Peter Turner practiced law in Cowansville, Quebec for some forty years, while teaching international human rights law part-time at several universities. He has been involved in public affairs at all levels of government and continues to enjoy a late night in one village bar or another – for as long as he is tolerated.
